Ahhhhh-HO!

As in Ajo, AZ!  We've buzzed through here many times over the last several years, usually on our way to Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, Puerto Penasco, or just taking the backroad to Tucson.  We've actually stayed over a night or two...in an RV park.  But friends and fellow bloggers keep mentioning Darby Wells Road and the Scenic Loop and the excellent boondocking, night skies, hiking and jeep drives,....why has it taken us so long to experience this beautiful spot in the Sonoran Desert?  Especially since boondocking is our thing, and we've been compound bound in Yuma..but no one's complaining.

We drove through town and south to Darby Wells Road, then pulled off, unhooked the jeep, to go look around. There were several pull off tracks but at mile 1.6 we found our spot!

That's the lady with camera in the Sonoran Desert!
A garden of stately, gesturing Saguaro!

This impressive hill captures our southeast view!

Gumby is happy!

And, all this can be found in Ajo, you say? That is quite the forest of saguaro. What's the town like?

I'll be focusing on the town; small but accommodating. The best IGA super ever! How do I get rid of the word thingy?

Ah, Oh, that is some spectacular Sonoran desert.

To get rid of the word verification (which I did and instantly got spam so turned the awful thing back on) from you dashboard, settings, comments and then there's an option to turn it off.

We loved our too short visit to Darby Wells area near Ajo. We also loved the town and the IGA store! We are still getting repairs done to the MotherShip and hopefully we can spend more time exploring that area next year! Hope you get to stay as long as you really want to! The desert is beginning to bloom!

One of our all time favorite boondocking areas. Like being in a desert cactus garden.
Lots of areas to explore there.

we turned our word verification off, no problem... any spam seems to be going directly into our blogger spam folder. If you are using the newer blogger dashboard, you have to click on the little gear symbol top right and revert back to old dashboard to disable catcha word verif.
