Merry Christmas from our home to yours~~

Here in the Anza Borrego Desert and surrounded by breathtaking beauty, our day dawned warm, inviting us out to get our legs moving and head for the hills.  The 3rd ridge in from Peg Leg BLM takes us up the Coyote Mountain-side, slipping and sliding and scrambling over rocks, on a steep almost non-existent trail that is mostly washed out.  We are on a mission to renew our yearly conquest with the deadly serpent...

The monster lies in waiting:

There are 3 new creatures in attendance.  Can you name all 3?  I see a tortoise and a scorpion, not sure of the 3rd...

We spied a flag perched atop a pile of rocks that appeared new to us...

And soon found its source:

We'll call her the 'flag lady', and she has a new flag and is heading up the hill to replace the old one!

By late afternoon, after a trip to town...hardware store, library, Borrego Outfitters, and market, we head home to decorate for Christmas.  Howard fills paper bags with sand, placing a small votive candle in each one, then places them around our site.  Luminarias are traditional in the southwest....

We pour a glass and sit to admire the beauty that surrounds us!

Merry Christmas from our home to yours!
