Getting to Whidbey Island is half the fun...The Washington State Ferry is a marvelous public transportation system. We arrived about 11 a.m. at the Port Townsend ferry terminal for an 11:45 a.m. departure. First in line gets the best seat on the ship! Our fare = $65.

The larger vehicles, semis & motorhomes, travel on the lower deck. We are directed to drive forward...all the way to the very front of the ship...

Here we are sitting in the motorhome with this spectacular view unfolding before us...powered by a vehicle of magnificent proportions! A tad expensive but what a way to travel..

| Arriving Whidbey Island! |
Arriving Coupeville on Whidbey Island, we disembark and drive about 15 miles to Oak Harbor, the most populated town on the Island and home of a large Naval Air Base.

The fun continued when we pulled into the Windjammer Park, an Oak Harbor City Park, where we had planned to stay a night at the Staysail RV Park. I can't remember ever having full hook-ups with a waterfront location in a beautiful park setting with miles of walking trails, for $20 per night.

It seems so long since we had water and electric that we forget that we can actually use our rice cooker and turn off the propane water heater. And what was that strange "kurplunk" coming out of the freezer? Oh, the sound of ice cubes dropping from the ice maker! Nice to get our batteries topped off. The last few days in Port Townsend were foggy and overcast and our solar panels got lazy!
So we've decided to stay a week!

That is quite the view on the ferry ride, I love boats and the ocean.
Awwww. Staysail RV Park looks like another great discovery. Thanks for expanding my thinking to look for RV parks like this one. It looks like a great place to be. I know you will continue to have a great trip. So fun sharing some time at Port Townsend.
