An Altitude Adjustment

We needed an altitude adjustment, a little less dry and more moisture in the air, soothing ocean breezes, and a bit cooler temps.  We needed sea level after a lot of time in thin air.  We also needed to see good friends and Pismo Beach, which we just showed y'all around in March, was a doable day's drive from Lone Pine.  The State Park that we like so much is now completely on the reservation system.

Our dearest and best, Edna and Allen, live nearby.  Allen has been dealing with lots of health issues so we just wanted to stop and give hugs, share some food, and fun times.  They have the most beautiful home and even let us fix dinner one night.  What a pleasure!  Edna always knows where the best sustainable farms are and Ruiz Farms was not to be missed.  Yes, we did buy the chard to be sauteed in a little olive oil and balsamic!

For an outing other than Costco (an expensive trip after a month) we walked the Bob Jones Trail to Avila Beach.  Avila Beach is just north of Pismo and the trail starts near the parking lot off Hwy. 101, and wanders along San Luis Obispo Creek, through old sycamores and oaks,  a golf course and mini-estates, for about 3 1/4 miles to town and the beach.

Beautiful old trees along the trail

The fog lifts over SLO Creek

We definitely needed some stimulants for the return trip so grabbed a large latte with a double shot of espresso and sat out and enjoyed the view.

Cute describes the town

We'll take a deep breath and buckle up now for the drive north on Highway One...Not for the faint of heart, especially traveling in a motorhome.  Check back with us and keep your fingers crossed for good luck!!

All those fresh vegies look scrumptious and that old tree has such character. I do like the coastal route but know what you mean doing it in a MH. Safe journey and keep the rubber down.
